"as suspected, the cost to bring that building up to code was too much." tippins says he was through and can't be effectuated is disappointing." mcconnell foundation - an original bidder of the property - is stepping in with an offer.. "mcconnell has had a longstanding interest in the police station, and we quickly gathered our board of directors up to revisit an acquisition of the police station." mcconnell vice president of operations shannon phillips says their board will submit a $675-thousand dollar cash offer to the city of redding this week...the same offer they initially made. she says because the costs to bring it up to code are too high, they plan to knock it down and replace it... but are still working out the details. "our intent was to demolish the building primarily because it's been deemed an unsafe workplace." mcconnel was also recently awarded a shasta regional transportation agency grant that will help them apply for state funds to redevelop a nearby downtown parking garage for mixed-use housing and businesses. "if we're successful with that grant, we feel this property will compliment that development. if we're not successful with that grant, we feel this property will be a strategic place to begin development." once the offer for the old police station is made, city council members will vote to approve the sale... ...we reached out to equity streams but were unable to get a response... reporting in redding, tiffany wong krcr news channel 7. the effects of proposition are starting to be felt in shasta county..
