Wed, 14 Jun 2017 23:13:54 +0000NV Energy with tips on how to keep your bills lowCynthia Messina has 4 energy saving tipshttp://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12489/6961049?cpt=8&wpid=2637KLAS Las Vegas, NVthank you so much for coming by. we appreciate it. >> thank you. >> what is the name of that smoothie? >> this is the sunshine. >> okay.a smoothie can always help you cool down but what about cooling down your home? cynthia from nv energy is here with morris to keep your summer bills low. and we are in a heat warning, we have to save our money. so what kind of tips can you share with us today? >> sure, we have power shifts which is one of the products and services that tells all of the customers how they can save energy and money on their bills. smart thermostats, they are free. their professionally installed and let people know, you can manage the temperature be home from an app. so you can use the smart stone -- smart phone for that. you can save energy and money by keeping the air temperature -- >> and you have a pool trooper? >> yes another way that you complete your pool in a timer. you can be more efficient as well to build up and escalate. >> okay.and then obviously. >> the west facing windows the sun comes in during tthe day. so blinds and drapes on those windows are very important to keep the heat out and sent out during the day. you open them when the sun goes down it really helps on energy bills. another thing is appliances. running your appliances, dishwashers, closing washer, dryer's. they generate heat. so operate those when it is cooler out for the evening hours. not during the day when it is hot. >> i would never have thought of that. the dishwasher, the dryer. they get so hot! do that in the evening if you can. >> yes. so you don't heat up the room. >> and how do we be prepared? >> we keep our system reliable and we work very hard. make sure the system is running in tiptop shape so people can rely on their air conditioner. when they turn it on it is there. the electricity is flowing. >> very good. any other tips on how we can lower our summer bills? >> i also mentioned earlier we have a smart thermostat that is free. so all you have to do is call us or log onto the website and the information is there to get a smart thermostat. they can help residential customers save about $100 a year on the power bill. also, we have free -- we will send the advisor to your home who will go through the house, check the insulation levels, look at windows, look at the blinds on the windows. look at the appliances to see how new they are. if they need to be replaced. that is a free service that we offer to our customers.
